This hand-held meter is used for rapid non-contact measurements of static electricity and surface voltages. It is ideal for identifying the source of static problems. The sensor is the metal disk shown on the rear surface, and this rear location is not typical of electrostatic voltmeters. The typical sensor location for most meters is on the top, but this top location requires that the user turn the meter upside-down to measure a horizontal surface, such as a bench top. With the rear sensor location, the Surface DC Voltmeter is normally held as shown. While measuring any surface or object, the display remains right-side-up, and your hand always remains at a convenient angle.
